Poems Dedicated to the 2977 Victims of 9/11 and Their Families and Friends

10 years Have Passed

10 years have passed, since 9/11,
10 years they've rested, up in heaven,
10 years of pain, with sorrow we've cried,
10 years ago, countless loved ones have died.

10 years we've felt, an empty void,
10 years of memories, terrorists destroyed,
10 years ago, we saw them last,
10 years of thinking about the past.

10 years without their kiss or touch,
10 years we've missed them, so, so much.
10 years later we're still asking why?
10 years have passed, but we can't say goodbye!

My heart goes out to all the families and friends of the 2977 victims of September 11, 2001. Here's a list of the names of all 2977 victims of 9/11.

The next one was written by Patricia Capansky, on the first Christmas following 911.

THE TREE OF ANGELS

>

I saw a sight the other night
I wish that all could see,
in New York at Ground Zero
stood this awesome Christmas Tree.

Adorned with lights and Angels
in great numbers shining bright,
glistening with such beauty
in the darkness of the night.

The Angels and the lights
are in remembrance of the lost,
an American Flag flies high
above depicting Freedom's Cost.

Thirty feet of brilliance
towered stately in the air,
with names on every Angel
not a single branch was bare.

The decorations on that tree
just seemed to say it all,
we will never forget the thousands lost
and America shall not fall.

UNITED WE STAND

>

THE YEAR 2001...
THE 11th OF SEPTEMBER,
A DAY THAT'S BURNED IN EVERY MIND,
FOREVER TO REMEMBER.

THE DAY OUR WORLD BEGAN TO CHANGE
RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES,
AS TERRORISTS IN OUR OWN PLANES,
FLEW RAMPANT IN OUR SKIES.

THE HIJACKED PLANES, THE BUILDINGS HIT,
THE SUDDEN BURST OF FLAME.
THE DEVASTATING LOSS OF LIFE,
NOT KNOWING WHO'S TO BLAME.

TRADE CENTER TOWERS IN NEW YORK
WERE TOPPLED TO THE GROUND
AND REMNANTS OF A WAR ZONE
HAD BEEN SCATTERED ALL AROUND.

THE THIRD PLANE HIT THE PENTAGON
IN WASHINGTON DC,
ANOTHER HIJACKED OFF ITS COURSE
FROM WHERE THAT PLANE SHOULD BE.

THE FOURTH PLANE CRASHED IN PENNSYLVANIA
IN SOME FIELD SECLUDED,
SO BY SOME UNKNOWN MIRACLE,
THEIR TARGET WAS ELUDED.

AIRPLANES FILLED WITH PASSENGERS
WERE THE WEAPONS THAT WERE USED;
SOME MID EAST COUNTRIES WERE APPALLED
WHILE OTHERS WERE AMUSED.

BUT WHEN THE GUILTY ONES ARE FOUND
AND SOON WILL COME THAT DAY,
WHEN THE TRAGIC THINGS THEY'VE DONE
THEY TOO WILL HAVE TO PAY.

A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER DECLARED,
THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS GONE BY
AND ON THE FOURTH DAY IN NEW YORK,
THE HEAVENS START TO CRY.

THE RESCUE WORKERS AT GROUND ZERO
KEEPING UP THEIR PACE,
DETERMINED IF THERE'S ONE SMALL CHANCE,
THEY WILL NOT LOSE THIS RACE.

POLICEMEN, FIREMEN, VOLUNTEERS
FROM ALL WALKS CAN BE FOUND,
SIFTING THROUGH THE RUBBLE
AND THE CARNAGE ON THE GROUND.

UNITED WE ARE STANDING NOW...
UNITED WE WILL STAY
AND TERROR WILL NOT BRING US DOWN,
HERE IN THE USA.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

by Patricia Capansky

This poem was written after 911 while the people were coming out of the Trade Centers and the rescue workers were going in.

Patricia wrote this for the Firefighters, Police and all the many volunteers.

TO AMERICA'S HEROES

>

We see you almost every day
we know the things you do,
we hear of your heroic deeds
but still we do not know you.

We've seen the most horrific things
as your jobs you endure,
we know each time you're needed
you'll soon be there for sure.

With every catastrophic thing
you're right there on the scene,
knowing way down deep inside,
for you what that may mean.

But still you charge the enemy
with all you have to give,
risking your own life and limb
that someone else might live.

You're all such special people
and a very special breed,
to help in any way you can,
somebody else in need.

So to our many Heroes
on whom we all depend,
to help us through our troubled times
when helping hands they lend;

May God send all his Angels
to be with you each day,
to remove any obstacles
that may be in your way;

To cradle you most gently
in an Angel's bended arm,
to guide you through the danger
and to keep you safe from harm.

God Bless All Of Our Heroes
