Thank You

I may not be
your daughter by blood,
but today you’ve showed me
the meaning of love

My father is not here
because of illness,
but you walked with me,
showing your strong willingness

I know that we have
not had the best of days,
but today I’m hoping
we can agree the same way

You mean to me as much
as my father does,
Because I know that you are
as strong as he once was

I wish he was here,
to hold me near
but, I knew you would do this
without any fear

I want to thank you
today,
for doing the honor
of giving me away

So thank you
for helping us
with our special day
