A POEM FOR CHRIS
He’s my Granddaughter’s Husband,
he’s also her best friend,
but I never was around him much
until this past weekend.
The breakfast and the tacos
that he fixed for us were great
and if we needed anything,
he didn’t hesitate.
So I’m thinking this guy’s really good
but then here comes the hitch,
when his wife starts to tell the tale
of their cars starter switch.
It seems the way the story went,
the starter switch was bad
so Chris not real sure where that was,
decides to ask his Dad;
And from their conversation,
he really thought he knew,
the part he should be looking for
and just what he should do.
So he pulled a part out of the car
but imagine his surprise,
when he took it to the parts store
and the look in that clerk’s eyes.
Cause the windshield wiper motor
was the part that Chris took in
and I’ll bet that clerk tried really hard
to not crack a huge grin.
So here’s Chris at the parts store,
bless his little heart,
just bravely standing in that store
holding the wrong part.
But all of us have made mistakes
of which we’re not real proud,
and all of us have done things
that make people laugh out loud.
So as an automobile mechanic Chris,
you didn’t have much luck,
but you can stick to cooking
cause at that you sure don’t suck.
